This package is an update for the Sound Blaster Extigy for users running Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
The package will update the following:
Sound Blaster Extigy Drivers (Update to V5.12.01.0038)
Sound Blaster Extigy Firmware (Update to V1.1.020507)
Creative Audio Mixer (Update to V2.01.15)
Creative Audio Control (Update to V1.00.07)
Creative Diagnostics (Update to V2.20.14)
Requirements
An existing Sound Blaster Extigy software package must be installed before installing this update. In order to utilise the additional features in this driver revision, it will be necessary to install the firmware update (V1.1.020507) (SBFlash.exe) that is included in the file download.
Special Instructions
Before you attempt to upgrade the firmware for your device, be sure that:
i. You have already installed the Sound Blaster Extigy software package in your computer
ii. You have connected Sound Blaster Extigy to your computer
iii. No other applications are running or active in your computer
While the upgrade is installing, do not:
i. Disconnect Sound Blaster Extigy
ii. Start up any other application

EXTIGY的新驅動程式

首先是為了安裝這份驅動程式，必須更新 Extigy 的 firmware，而更新 firmware 是為了以下的功能：\r

此外，修正了以下的問題：
*Cakewalk SONAR 1.3.1 (試用版) 認為 Sound Blaster Extigy 是單聲道裝置
*當播放 AC3 檔案時，如果快轉或靜音，將導致 Wave 音量恢復成預設值
*PlayCenter 中的 EAX On/Off 按鈕可以正確對應遙控器
*拔離耳機後，Audio Mixer（混音器）中的 Fader（前後音量比例）與中央聲道的音量恢復成可以調整的狀態
*在 Windows XP 下更新驅動程式後不需要重新開機
*喇叭的設定可以儲存下來，下次開機會恢復
*改善 3D 定位音效的品質
還增加了以下功能：\r
*可以讓你播放 24bit/96kHz 的音樂，不會有系統錯誤，不過還是會透過取樣頻率轉換轉換成 16bit/48kHz 的聲音

我的主機板是 ASUS TUSL2-C，是 Intel i815EP，我接 SB Extigy 時，也是在 WindowsXP 下，一打開 Extigy 的電源，WinXP 就開始偵測裝置，不用灌驅動程式就已經辨認出是 SB Extigy（這個其實沒什麼，USB 可以傳遞 device name），而且還拿預設的 USB Sound 驅動程式套上去，就結束偵測與安裝了，WinXP 是以為這樣就可以用了，但事實上當然還是要裝 Extigy 的官方驅動程式才可以正常運作。
後來把 Extigy 帶到公司去使用，公司的電腦在南橋晶片上是 VIA 686A，作業系統是 Windows2000，也是如同我在家裡使用 WinXP 的過程，完全一樣。後來我把公司的電腦添加 NEC USB 2.0 的界面卡，再把 SB Extigy 裝到那張卡上，也沒什麼問題，並且解決動不動就爆音的問題。SB Extigy 如果接在 VIA 提供的 USB，狀況實在是很慘。
所以也許，我猜，是有特定的主機板或是晶片組比較會挑剔一點。
