Sudden Sound interruption when using Extigy + Acer 345T NB

When I used either WinAMP or Creative Playcenter to play MP3s, sometimes there would be sudden interruption of sound (i.e. music suddenly disappeared). Afterward, I can't play any sound file (MP3 or WAV) unless I reboot my computer. I also tried using different output plug-ins in WinAMP. Neither Wave-out or Directsound eliminates this problem. Do anyone have this similar problem or know how to solve it?

My setting:

Acer 345T Notebook
PIII 600Hz
128MB Ram
6GB HD
OS: Windows 98 SE2
Driver is updated to the latest one
Speaker setting: 4 speakers (F: Promedia 2.1, R: MW)
