I can give you a brief description of the difference between the two...
Firstable, Dolby Pro-Logic the signal source is analog while Dolby Digital uses digital singals.
Second, the the surrond channel for Pro-Logic mode is mono, a typical Pro-Logic system has left front, right front, and mono rear channel..some more advance Pro-Logic system has center channel, while Dolby Digital can go up as high as 5.1 channel with Stereo rear channels.
Third, the encode is very much different between the two, Pro-Logic encode the signal within normal analog stereo signals but dolby digital the signal is digital and require decoder to convert it to analog mode
